1st place ITAPA Award in the category "Process improvement" for the project "Information system of Road Network Model"
The ITAPA International Congress (Information Technologies and Public Administration) has been the most important and well-known IT event devoted to IT in public administration in Slovakia since 2002. Annually the best IT projects are awarded prestigious prizes by a jury of specialists.
The best project of 2010 in the Process Improvement category is the IS MCS – Information System of Road Network Model that was registered by Slovenská správa ciest (Slovak Road Administration) and supplied by SOFTEC, spol. s r. o. and ArcGEO Information Systems, spol. s r. o.
The goal of the project is to support:
- Processing data of the characteristics and metrics of the Slovak road network;
- Informatization of processes: technical recording of Slovak land roads, their parts and accessories and evaluation of their condition; communication of road administrators at the national as well as regional level (state, regional administration, municipality) with the centre at the General Headquarters of Slovenská správa ciest; methodical support in relation to activities of both national and regional administrators; communication with third parties which apply for cooperation in selected projects; support for processing the agenda of road administration authorities in the field of issuing permits for special use of land roads when transporting overmass and oversize loads pursuant to the Act No. 135/1961 Coll. as amended by later regulations.
- Defining scope of method and process for maintaining a detailed technical record of the Slovak road network and managing processes related to the road network model.
Alica Szebényiová from SSC said in her acceptance speech: “I am very grateful and proud of what we have achieved and I would like to say thank you to my colleagues who are not present here. We are simple road workers. We are the ones people might complain about when there are pot-holes or roads are inaccessible. But we are the people who collect data about roads and try to have a quality database so that anything can be improved. Well, many thanks to you again and I would like to wish us, our great team of suppliers Softec and ArcGEO for IS MCS, continued cooperation”.
This year 13 projects were registered in thecompetition, seven projects in the Process Improvement category and six projects in the New Services category. The results were announced at the presentation ceremony Gala Evening ITAPA 2010 at the Kempinski Hotel River Park Bratislava. Compère of the presentation ceremony was Petra Polnišová and the singers - Nela Pocisková, Mária Lechmanová, Alžbeta Bartošová, and Ján Slezák appeared in the program. The Award in the Process Improvement category was given by Lucia Mušková (Honorary President of the Congress) and the Award in the New Services category was given by Vladimír Ivantyšyn (Director-General of the Congress).
