This year, in the cosy premises of the Arena Theatre, we will welcome on stage the shining star of the business-technology scene - generative artificial intelligence. We will take a look at how companies are actually using it, where it is already bringing real value and where it remains more of a "theater". We will share inspiring examples of the use of generative models - from software development, through improving the customer experience, to addressing customer retention. And we won't forget education: how to adapt the school system so that the children can be ready for a world in which AI plays an increasingly important role? 

SOFTECON 2025 - AI on the Stage of Innovations

Today Softec, a major consulting and software group, announced an important personnel reinforcement in its top management. Alexander Paál and Šimon Skrak will be its new members. Paál will lead the Czech branch in Prague, while Skrak will cover the development of the telecommunications segment in both countries. Both bring a wealth of experience in technology, consulting and digital transformation to the company.

Softec strengthens on two fronts. Alexander Paál becomes the director of Softec CZ, Šimon Skrak will manage telecommunications.

The winter season in Slovakia complicates the traffic flow on the roads every year. Deteriorated road conditions have been resolved with reactive road maintenance so far, which was expensive and unsustainable in the long term. Searching an effective solution, we teamed up with the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) and developed low-cost IoT weather stations, thanks to which we are able to collect more detailed data and thus more accurately predict the need for road maintenance. Microsoft Azure technology plays a big role in this success, thanks to which we can store data in the cloud and evaluate it in detail.

SOFTEC, in cooperation with SHMÚ, reduces road management costs and increases road safety

The technology company SOFTEC delivered and operates the solution NFINITY (www.nfinity.digital) – Contracting Platform solution for Slovak Telekom, a 100% subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. This is SOFTEC’s latest solution for fully digital customer verification and digital contracting using facial biometrics incl. document data extraction using OCR technology. NFINITY is a proven solution with unique references in the banking, telco and insurance industry. Operating the service in public cloud enables accelerated implementation and deployment with guaranteed high availability and service quality.

SOFTEC helped digitize the largest telco operator in Slovakia. Delivered and operates a solution for customer identity verification and fully digital sales.

The ongoing discussions on the shape of the digital euro will soon take a real shape. In the autumn, the European institutions are expected to discuss new legislation that will determine how it will be implemented.

SOFTEC, a consulting and technology company, announced today that it has created a unique solution enabling companies and their clients to sign contracts with the highest possible legal acceptance at speed and at low cost, through the client’s qualified electronic signature with a qualified electronic timestamp. The solution is fully compliant with the latest EU legislation (eIDAS) and very user-friendly. The uniqueness is based on the fact that the qualified signature can be performed without prior preparation, without the need for clients to visit the branch and without other restrictive or procedurally demanding conditions, as is common when using a qualified signature. It does not require any special hardware, any additional passwords or actions. It leverages the current possibilities offered by facial biometrics along with identity documents, or various smart keys. The solution enables to keep the written form of the concluded agreement, while ensuring the identification of the signing client. According to the available information, SOFTEC is the first company in the Central European region with such a solution.

Alexander Paál takes up the position of director of Softec CZ. His task will be to develop the company's potential on the Czech market and help its further expansion. He first gained domestic and international experience at Accenture, where he was involved in management consulting and system integration (transformation projects). His key clients at that time included Česká sporiteľňa, VÚB or Raiffeisen bank. Later, he was at the birth of PwC's technology consulting division, which today has 150 people. Here he focused mainly on transformation and regulatory projects at Komerční banka, e.g. building a new digital bank or ESG. His big topic is the education and development of colleagues, and he also works as a lecturer at the Prague University of Economics and Business. In Softec, he sees the potential for growth and possibilities for further expansion not only on the Czech market. He graduated from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and City University. In his free time, he has been dancing folk dance for many years, which he also teaches.Šimon Skrak will strengthen Softec's top management as a telco lead for both countries. His extensive practise includes both domestic and foreign experience in the field of telecommunications (Slovakia, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary). In the colours of Accenture, where he worked for 22 years, he participated, for example, in the fundamental transformation of Slovak Telekom and other important projects. For the past six years, he helped develop the newly established Accenture Song digital division in Prague and Bratislava and was engaged for example in the digital transformation of Škoda Auto, the largest exporter in the Czech Republic. He graduated from Faculty of Management of the Comenius University in Bratislava. Every year during the winter, Slovak cities and regions struggle with variable weather conditions on the roads. They often complicate the flow and safety of road traffic. So, we joined together with SHMÚ and delivered affordable weather stations that efficiently assist with managing road maintenance.“Today, governments are moving from reactive maintenance to preventive measures before conditions arise. This leads to significant savings and environmental benefits. For example, you can save up to two thirds of salt by salting before snowfall. To do this, authorities need reliable forecasts and information on road temperatures,” explains Ondrej Svacina, our Business Development Manager &amp; Senior Consultant.Our weather stations monitor a&nbsp;variety of variables such as surface temperature, air humidity and more. This data is processed and stored in the cloud and interpreted using Microsoft Azure technologies.Road dispatchers had to rely solely on citywide general weather forecasts, which were unreliable in regions with a variety of meteorological conditions. With IoT weather stations, they can do more localized and targeted salting instead of costly city-wide interventions. After launching our solution, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 28% and the consumption of road salt decreased fourfold.

Zimní období na Slovensku každoročně komplikuje plynulost dopravy na silnicích. Zhoršené silniční podmínky se doteď řešily reaktivní údržbou cest, která byla nákladná a dlouhodobě neudržitelná. Při hledání efektivního řešení jsme spojili síly se Slovenským hydrometeorologickým ústavem (SHMÚ) a přinesli jsme nízkonákladové IoT meteorologické stanice, díky kterým jsme schopni shromažďovat podrobnější údaje a přesněji tak předpovídat potřebu údržby silnic. Na tomto úspěchu má velký podíl i technologie Microsoft Azure, díky které umíme ukládat data do cloudu a podrobně je vyhodnocovat.

Slovak Telekom was looking for a unique solution for digital customer verification in order to increase sales through digital channels, without the need for any customer physical presence. The first phase was focused on the implementation of the process for a new prepaid customers. From the business point of view, remote identity verification enables to expand the channels for the sale of SIM cards to more partners and significantly improves the customer experience, while the SIM card can be used practically immediately after purchase.Martin Petriščák, director of telco and banking systems division at SOFTEC, adds: “We delivered this solution from the idea to a fully functional, integrated and tested solution in a relatively short time – within six weeks. This was possible mainly due to the fact that NFINITY services are fully available in the cloud and as a result of the effective cooperation with the Slovak Telekom team. The delivery included the integration of NFINITY into Slovak Telekom’s systems, as well as the development of a custom web application. We also provided consulting services for the integration of the web application to the services of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.”Slovak Telekom chose the NFINITY solution based on proven references and its integration readiness, as the time to market was a very critical decision criteria. “We wanted to have a production pilot up and running as soon as possible to get feedback from a selected group of customers ahead of a full commercial launch. We managed to deliver the first phase with SOFTEC within 6 weeks, which is very short period of time. Today, our solution is technically ready to be used not only for the prepaid scenario, but also for many other possible use cases,” concludes Robert Hvorečný, Technical Tribe Lead, Slovak Telekom.

SOFTEC pomohol digitalizovať najväčšieho operátora na Slovensku

According to Peter Ivanka, digital banking expert at Softec, a common European digital currency should be more stable than cryptocurrencies.On the other hand, whether people will accept it will also depend on how the central bank deals with public fears about loss of privacy. "The solution could be to introduce a limit up to which payments would be anonymous and beyond which they would not," says a digital banking expert.What does digital currency actually mean and how does it differ from cryptocurrencies? What role will commercial banks play in the introduction of a common digital currency and how will they maintain their fearless position in the market? And why is there an assumption that the introduction of the digital euro could speed up payments?<h2>Will it replace cash?</h2>What is the curent stage of the digital euro at legislative level? Is there any progress?A legislative proposal was presented at the end of June. In October it should be clear what the digital euro will look like. The proposal should be discussed by the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB). So we are in the pilot phase of shaping the concept.What do we know today? What form should the digital euro take?At the moment, these are just general formulations. What they mean is that the digital euro should be accessible to the general public. With the possible exception of small establishments, it should be possible to pay with it everywhere. However, the ECB is also declaring the importance of preserving cash, which is important. People should therefore have the right to cash.Are the European institutions thus responding to the fears that the digital euro will replace cash?Yes. When the ECB did a survey on people's attitudes towards a common digital currency, the most frequently raised concern was the loss of privacy. And it is also a response to various legislative initiatives, for example in Austria or Slovakia, which aim to preserve the right to cash.So are we not heading towards the demise of cash, which is what many fear?I think not. People are already becoming partially saturated with digital. So this is a response to their fears. But it also has to be said that people are perhaps also worried about the disappearance of the so-called grey economy. Although I think they would find ways to enter it in the digital space as well.Can we say that digital currency will not be mandatory?It certainly is. It is formulated as a complement to cash, so it will be an alternative to it. So far, there is no indication that people will be forced into it in any way.<h2>Concerns about loss of privacy</h2>The public's concern stems from the fact that the central bank will monitor money flows. So is there a risk of loss of privacy in transactions?On one hand, the proposal states that payment security and privacy will be maintained. On the other hand, there is an ambition to combat money laundering. These two concepts go against each other.If you want to fight money laundering, you have to monitor payments, but on the other hand, there is the promise of privacy. So the statements so far are a bit schizophrenic. The solution could be to introduce a limit up to which payments are anonymous and beyond which they are not.So are the fears of loosing anonymity justified?From my point of view, for the time being, yes. They have not been refuted. But we have not yet seen a more detailed proposal for the operation of the currency. There is at least a declaration of the right to cash. We will know more in October.What's your guess?I suppose the ECB will have to deal with this problem if it wants to achieve broad public acceptance of the currency. Otherwise, people would have a strong tendency not to switch to the digital euro.<h2>Built on blockchain</h2>How will the system work technologically?Quite often, blockchain is mentioned in combination with payment systems such as TIPS (Target Instant Payment Settlement, a service designed for processing instant payments, ed.), which could guarantee anonymity.It would be advantageous if the digital euro was deployed on a new infrastructure. The payment systems typically used by banks today are perhaps 20 or 30 years old. Implementing new technological possibilities would thus speed up payments.On the other hand, central banks today do not have the necessary infrastructure, so cooperation with commercial banks is likely to be needed here.What advantages could the digital euro bring over cashless payments?It should further expand electronic payments. They should be easier and faster. Although there are still a number of options today, such as instant interbank payments, there are still various obstacles, for example cross-border payments.<h2>Competition to traditional banks</h2>Will the digital euro also help to introduce cashless payments to establishments that today, for various reasons, refuse them?In the context of the legislation, it is said that basic operations with the digital euro will be free of charge. However, there are already solutions today in which establishments do not need a terminal. Merchants therefore have options to accept cashless payments at low fees.But the introduction of the digital euro is likely to make it even easier and cheaper to pay in shops.What will be the relationship of the digital euro to cryptocurrencies?Cryptocurrencies today are decentralised and we don't know the entities behind them. In the case of a digital European currency, it would be the other way around. Cryptocurrencies are therefore also very volatile. We have seen daily movements here of tens of percent. The digital form of the euro should benefit from the advantage of being guaranteed by a central bank, so it will be stable.Will the digital euro bring competition for banks and their business?Yes, it does. If the digital euro does indeed transfer the responsibility for running the digital infrastructure to the Central Bank, the question is what will be left for the commercial banks. In such a case, financial transactions would be centralised, which could lead to a loss of privacy to some extent.On the other hand, a digital euro account should be non-interest-bearing, so there is no attempt to encourage people to save in it. Významná konzultačno-softvérová spoločnosť SOFTEC dnes oznamuje príchod nového marketingového riaditeľa. Stal sa ním Marek Gešo (48), ktorý do firmy prichádza z Accenture, kde naposledy pôsobil ako riaditeľ marketingu a komunikácie pre sedem krajín strednej a východnej Európy a bol členom európskeho vedenia marketingu a komunikácie. V SOFTECU bude jeho hlavným cieľom posilnenie značky firmy ako preferovaného poskytovateľa technologických služieb a riešení pre popredné firmy a vládne organizácie v regióne a ako atraktívneho zamestnávateľa pre technologických nadšencov.

The solution is based on the proven contracting platform <a href="https://www.nfinity.digital/">NFINITY</a>, a SaaS service for identity verification and signing contracts online, which is intended for banks, mobile operators, insurance companies, but also real estate companies, brokers or network service providers.&nbsp;&nbsp;Libor David, Digital Architect at SOFTEC, adds: „Thanks to this universal solution, which is accepted across the EU and uses local possibilities, we can convert any business conversation between our customers and their clients into a legally binding written agreement, regardless of whether the conversation takes place in person or remotely. Our solution is economically attractive and, moreover, the implementation takes a maximum of a few weeks.“&nbsp; &nbsp;After issuing a one-time certificate for the client, the solution can be used wherever the EU eIDAS regulation applies, which concerns secure electronic communication between companies, citizens and public authorities throughout the European Union. It works as a so-called online notary, which means that it records the entire sales process.&nbsp;The qualified elecronic signature with qualified electronic timestamp represents the highest level of electronic signature and is still only minimally used by the public (entrepreneurs use it, for example, when filing tax returns). SOFTEC solution may reverse this trend. A slightly lower level has the so-called advanced electronic signature, used by roughly a third of users and which also enables to keep the written form of the concluded agreement. Within SOFTEC solution, the advanced signature can be used in all cases where a slightly lower level of verification is sufficient and companies are interested in keeping costs as low as possible. The basic level of signature in digital environment is a simple signature, or simply „an electronic signature“.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Konzultačně-technologická společnost SOFTEC dnes oznámila, že vytvořila unikátní řešení, díky kterému dokážou firmy a jejich klienti velmi jednoduše a při nízkých nákladech podepsat smlouvy se spolehlivou právní akceptací, prostřednictvím tzv. kvalifikovaného podpisu klienta s kvalifikovaným časým razítkem. Toto řešení odpovídá nejnovější platné EU legislativě (eIDAS), navíc je uživatelsky přívětivé. Unikátnost spočítá v tom, že kvalifikovaný podpis lze provést bez předchozí přípravy, bez nutnosti návštěvy klientů na pobočce a bez dalších omezujících či procesně náročných podmínek, jak je jindy při použití kvalifikovaného elektronického podpisu běžné. Není k němu potřeba žádný speciální hardware, žádná dodatečná hesla nebo úkony. Stačí využít stávající možnosti, které nabízí kupříkladu biometrie obličeje za použití dokladu totožnosti, případně nejrůznější smart klíče. Řešení umožňuje dodržení písemné formy uzavírané dohody se zabezpečením identifikace podepisujícího klienta. Podle dostupných informací je s tímto řešením SOFTEC první firmou ve středoevropském regionu.

Kvalifikovaný elektronický podpis rychle a levně na dálku, na pobočce, kdekoliv

Konzultačno-technologická spoločnosť SOFTEC dnes oznámila, že vytvorila unikátne riešenie, vďaka ktorému dokážu firmy a ich klienti veľmi jednoducho a pri nízkych nákladoch podpísať zmluvy s najvyššou možnou právnou akceptáciou, prostredníctvom tzv. kvalifikovaného elektronického podpisu klienta s kvalifikovanou časovou pečiatkou. Toto riešenie zodpovedá najnovšej platnej legislatíve EÚ (eIDAS), a naviac je užívateľsky prívetivé. Unikátnosť spočíva v tom, že kvalifikovaný podpis je možné vykonať bez predchádzajúcej prípravy, bez nutnosti návštevy klientov na pobočke a bez ďalších obmedzujúcich či procesne náročných podmienok, aké zvykli byť pri použití kvalifikovaného elektronického podpisu bežné. Nie je k nemu potrebný žiaden špeciálny hardware, žiadne dodatočné heslá ani úkony. Stačí využiť súčasné možnosti, ktoré ponúka napríklad biometria tváre za použitia dokladu totožnosti, prípadne rôzne smart kľúče. Riešenie umožňuje dodržanie písomnej formy uzatváranej dohody so zabezpečením identifikácie podpisujúceho klienta, napríklad spotrebiteľa. Podľa dostupných informácií je SOFTEC prvou firmou v stredoeurópskom regióne, ktorá prichádza s týmto riešením.
